Jean West

Jean K. West, age 87 of Lancaster, died June 4th, 2016 at Carriage Court. She was born on Feb. 17th, 1929 in Hocking County to the late George and Dessie Nungester Lutz. Jean graduated from Berne Union High School class of 1947. She retired from Lancaster-Fairfield County Head Start as Transportation Coordinator. She was the past president and member of V.F.W. Post #1380, Past President and member of M.O.C.A. Auxiliary Post #1380, and past member of the Moose Lodge #1955, Golden Moose, and AmVets #1985.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Vicke (Cy) Cupp, sons, Rick (Linda Baker) West and G. Keith (Donna) West; grandchildren, Travis (Katie) Cupp, Stacey (Chad) Guisinger, Lynsey (Lucas) Chapman, and Stephanie (Casey) Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Landon and Brooke Guisinger, Maddox and Knox Cupp, Laken Chapman, Liam, Jaycee, Camden, and Sadie Shepherd; sisters, Flossie Walt and Betty Gordan; sister-in-laws, Florence (John) Miller and Flossie West; brother-in-law, Gary West; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Galen West; sister, Dorothy Singer; brothers, Clint and Clyde Lutz; parents; and grandson, Tyler Cupp.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carriage Court and Main Street Terrace for all the compassion and loving care that they gave Jean.

A service will take place on Wednesday at 10:30AM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, officiated by Chaplain Karl Hartmann. A committal service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Her husband of 58 years, Galen, who was previously cremated, will be placed with her, to be buried together.
