Jean Spinks

Jean Lorene Thompson Spinks, 88, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Main Street Terrace in Lancaster.

Jean was born July 5, 1926, in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Perry David and Anne Jane (Smith) Thompson. She married Gordon Stanley Spinks on November 6, 1947, in Rockville, Maryland and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1974

Jean worked at the Lancaster - Fairfield County Medical Center for 19 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Lancaster. She loved crocheting, bowling, fishing, traveling, singing in the church choir, reading her bible, and reading her e-mail.

She is survived by her children, Linda (George) Hamilton of Bowling Green, Ohio and Betty Spinks of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Joan Payne of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; 2 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Her parents; two sisters, Patricia Auguste Myers and Janet Thompson Godsey; and 2 grandchildren preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 17, at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster, Ohio with Pastor Dr. John K. Beckett officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 - 1:00 pm preceding the service. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery in Athens County, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1950 Pleasantville Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
