Nauman
Jan Nauman 61 of Lancaster, Ohio died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Pickering House after battling cancer for many years. She participated in study programs that she felt would benefit future generations with cancer. Jan was a strong supporter of cancer research.
She was born on October 20, 1949 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Clarence and Eva Klump Turkenton. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and a graduate of Wittenberg University where she participated in field hockey. She was a math teacher for Lancaster City Schools.
Jan was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Lancaster Fairfield County Charity Newsies, Athens Boat and Ski Club. She was an avid boater, golfer at Lancaster Country Club and Pelican Pointe Golf and Country Club. She was a past board member of the Fairfield County Unit of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life in Lancaster and Relay for Life in Venice, Florida. She was a former member of the Lancaster Jaycees Wives Club.
Jan was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jerry Nauman; son, Jay (Kim) Nauman of Lancaster, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer (J.D.) Ellis of Oviedo, Florida; grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Jack, Riley, and Cade; brother, Jim (Barb) Turkenton of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Dillahunt officiating. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
