Lancaster - James “Jim” L. Valentine, 83, died Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Pickering House.
Jim led a very full life. He was a Vietnam era veteran who served in the US Army from 1960-1964. Jim was proud of his service to this country, and had the privilege to be taken on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. He worked for Anchor Hocking for 30 years, as a machine shop supervisor. Jim had a passion for anything with a motor. He was a class A enduro bike rider for many years; and was sponsored by Bill Carpenter, a local Triumph dealer. Jim was once featured in Performance Ford Magazine. He loved old and antique Fords, having owned 25 mustangs in his lifetime. He was the kind of man to take on challenges.
Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years Alice (Moore) Valentine; his children Angela Joy (Jamie) Valentine, James Craig Valentine, Amy Lynn (the late Eric) Preskar, Rhonda (James) Dorsey, and Mike (Traci) Lowe; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister Ann Valentine; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Freda and Lee Valentine; and his first wife Janet Valentine.
Family and friends are invited to come share stories about Jim during calling hours on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130. The funeral service will be held at 4:00PM. Caring Cremation® will follow.
