James O. Vaughan, Sr. 93 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Ridge of Lancaster Assisted Living.
He was a World War II and Korean Conflict veteran serving in the US Army. He was retired from Diamond Power and Specialty Co. with over 40 years of service and worked at Shaw’s Restaurant. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, loved camping, walking and painting houses.
James is survived by his children, Terrie (Mike) Vaughan Meenach of Independence, KY and Tracy (Chris Wright) Vaughan of Lancaster, OH; grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Skaggs, Evan Meenach, Lydia Vaughan and Andrew (Taylor) Vaughan; great grandchildren, Ellie Skaggs, Everett Skaggs, Ezra Skaggs, Viola Wilson and Ryder Vaughan; brother, William R. (Rose Mary) Vaughan, Jr. of Portsmouth, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Margaret Muckensturm and Donna Lowry; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Delores Vaughan, son, James Vaughan, Jr. and parents, brothers, William Oscar Vaughan and Harrell Vaughan and sisters, Millard Duke Vaughan,
Charlotte Nichols, Barbara Wright, Jackie Sherrill.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster with Champlain Kermit Welty officiating. Friends may visit Wednesday from 10:30-12:30 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OH 43130. In accordance with state mandates, COVID protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.
