James Ray Sterling, age 78, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 20, 1942 in Lancaster, OH to the late Charles Sterling and Bernice Alspach-Sterling-Roshon.
“Jim” was a 1960 graduate of Berne Union, Sugar Grove. In 1965 he graduated from Ohio University in Business Administration. He was a member of Sigma Chi. He worked in many management jobs, including Super X, RiteAid, and he retired from Walmart. He enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle around the boundaries of the USA with his beloved wife in the summer of 2006. In 2019, “Jim” participated in the Tennessee Senior Olympics and placed third in discus throwing, earning him a trip to the National Senior Olympics in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
James is survived by his wife; Brenda Sterling, children; Karen (James) Tindall, Cheryl (Mark) Hollinshead, Jackie (Tyree) Wright, Nickie Anders, grandchildren; Michael Boner, Brandy Baucom, Benjamin Sterling, Jacob Sterling, Heather Meece, Alexis Tindall, Schuyler Sterling, Irish Sterling, J.J. Galland, Ethan Wright, great grandchildren; Tibelia Boner, Sophia Vaughn, Evangelique Boner, Amelia Meece and sister; Sharon (Richard) Welch, niece; Natalie Welch, and nephew; Robert Welch.
James is preceded in death by his parents, son; Lance Sterling and brother; Charles Sterling.
