James "Jim" Nowlin

April 9, 1947 — March 28, 2012


James H. "Jim" Nowlin Sr. age 64, of Bremen, passed away on March 28, 2012, at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Roy and Virginia Nowlin on April 9, 1947 in Williamson, WV. He married the love of his life Debbie, on May 30, 1970.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam from 1965 to 1969. He was a lifetime member of the Baltimore VFW and Lancaster Amvets. After the war he worked for the Kroger Columbus Bakery as a line worker, retiring from the Bakery in 1997.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Debbie and daughter, Brandy (Randy) Lansing; three grandchildren, Dalton Nowlin, Courtney Lansing, and Ethan Lansing; sister, Gloria (Roger) Rutherford; special brother in law, Jerry (Bev) Roth; brother in laws Steven (Mary) Roth; and Dan (Wendy) Roth; and several very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James Nowlin II; mother and father, Roy and Virginia Nowlin and father and mother in law Bud and Mary Roth. A special thanks to all of the staff at the Pickering House.
A service will take place at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Lancaster on Monday at 10:30AM, officiated by Ernie Dolling. The Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will have a committal service at Grandview Cemetery following the service. Family and friends may call from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8PM Sunday at the funeral home.
