James A. "Jim" Sharp

James A. “Jim” Sharp passed away at home with his wife, Lana by his side on November 15, 2024 in Lancaster, OH.

Jim was born in Sugar Grove, Ohio on May 24, 1928 to the late Harry and Ruth (Reber) Sharp.

He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Lana J. (Wildermuth) Sharp; sons, Thom (Sue) Sharp, Robert Sharp, and Michael (Lee LaDue) Sharp; grandchildren, Ian (Lauren) Sharp, Iris Sharp, and Jason (Laurie) Sharp; two great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Paul H. (Jane) Wildermuth and Lance P. Wildermuth; sisters-in-law, Velvet (Robert) Kinsley, Melanie Gurile, and Bliss (Larry E.) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Beverly) Sharp; sister, Lois (Jerry) Dillon; son, William J. Sharp; and his parents. 

Jim retired from Lancaster Glass as Vice President of Engineering. After retirement, he and his wife spent several years RV’ing in the United States and Canada. Jim and his wife also had the opportunity to spend almost two years getting a glass factory in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Africa up and running, teaching Ethiopians how to make glass water bottles.

Jim was a man of many talents. He could do almost anything and was a great teacher to his wife. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed several years working on woodworking projects, all of which the family was lucky enough to receive. He was also a voracious reader having read almost 100 books a year for several years.

Jim and his wife enjoyed spending the last 28 winters in Venice, Florida in Country Club Estates making several friends and participating in the activities and enjoying the sunshine.

Caring Cremation® has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME. According to Jim’s wishes there will be no calling hours or visitation. A special thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially to Anita and Kelsey.
