Gaffney
James E. Gaffney, age 78, of Baltimore, passed away July 18, 2014 at his home. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on November 23, 1935 to Claude E. Gaffney and Mary Frances (Neal) Keys. He was a truck driver all his life and retired from TransFleet Enterprises. He attended Trinity United Church of Christ; was a Past Master and member of Baltimore Lodge #475 F. & A.M. and Parthenia Chapter #124, O.E.S.; a member of Buckeye Lake Eagles #2801, and Olivedale Senior Citizens. He was an amateur radio operator with the call sign of N8JEG and a member of the Lancaster-Fairfield County Amateur Radio Club.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Hanna; his two dogs Misty and BJ; daughter, Brenda (Robert) Van Dyke of Baltimore; sons, Michael (Sharon) Gaffney of Lecanto, FL and James (Kim) Gaffney Jr of Baltimore; grandchildren, Zachary Gaffney and Desirea Gaffney of Baltimore; great-granddaughter, Layla Gaffney of Thornville, and step-grandsons, Beau George of Baltimore and Scott Icenhower and his family of Pomeroy, Ohio. He is also survived by his two step-daughters and their families, Karla (Jim) Hagy of Thornville and Teresa (Mike) Meadows of Baltimore. A sister-in-law also survives, Sherry Gaffney of Ironton, Ohio; nieces and nephews Scott (Liz) Gaffney of Westerville, Ron (Cami) Gaffney, Mark (Christi) Gaffney, Christy (Danny) Roberts, and Tina (Chris) Runyon all of the Ironton, Ohio area; and two cousins, Ralph Neal of Pataskala and Barbara Ernestine (Jim) Cartwright of Sarasota, Florida.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Juanita, on October 8, 2007; his father in 1965, mother in 1981, and his brother, Ronald L. Gaffney of Ironton, Ohio in 2012.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 with Rev. Jill Dunlap officiating. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Baltimore, Ohio. Friends may visit Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Baltimore Masonic Lodge 475 F. & A.M. and Parthenia Chapter #124, O.E.S. will hold a memorial service starting at 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
