James "Hog" Dupler March 18, 1930 - December 22, 2010

James H. “Hog” Dupler, age 80, of Millersport, passed away Wednesday morning,
December 22, 2010 at Fairfield Medical Center.

James was born on March 18, 1930, to the late Martin L. and Margaret S. (Logue) Dupler in Thurston, Ohio. He graduated from Thurston High School in 1948. He married Mary Louise Stilwell on December 31, 1950. James and Mary lived on a farm in Millersport since 1961. He worked for Altens Foundry in Lancaster and for Crown Zellerbach Paper Company in Baltimore. He also worked for Flo-Lizer Fertilizer Company in Hebron, Ohio, and with Ralph Zollinger raising pigs on a farm in Millersport. He retired from Fairfield County Engineers in 1991.

He was a member at St. Michael's United Church of Christ in Baltimore, Ohio, where he spent many years singing in the choir. He performed as a soloist and a Premier Endman telling jokes for the Millersport Minstrel beginning in 1958. He continued performing with the Millersport Community Theatre Minstrels beginning in 1976. In addition, he had roles with the theater in The King and I and Damn Yankees. He was honored by the theater in 2000 for his “many years of dedication to the Millersport Community Theatre and the art of laughter since 1958.” He also performed with the Lancaster Men’s Chorus from 1991 – 1998.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary L. (Stilwell) Dupler of Millersport. Children, Roxanne Crocco (Bruce) of Worthington, OH; Wende K. Dupler (Chris Hammett) of Alexandria, VA; Beckie L. Diley of Millersport; Jeffrey W. Dupler (Mary) of Millersport; and Jimmy D. Dupler (Diane) of Thornville. Grandchildren, Katie, Anthony, and Liza Crocco; Bon, Krista and Kyla Diley; Tristan and Kendra Dupler; Nathan (Amber) and Blake Dupler; Jamie L. Wurthmann and dog, Brutus.

James is preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Dupler and sister, Martha L. Dupler; and daughter-in-law, Alicia (Mathews) Dupler.

The funeral service will take place at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Baltimore, on Monday at 1:30PM officiated by Pastor Dale Ann Gray and Reverend Diane Berger. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Lancaster. Friends may call from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James' name to the Millersport Community Theater, P.O. Box 637 or the Lancaster Men’s Chorus.
