James Davis

James Albert Davis 78 of Lancaster, Ohio passed after a courageous 17 year battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sharon (Mattox) Davis, sons Ted and Jason (Molly) and grandchildren Brave, Jonah, Ella and Hannah. He is also survived by relatives Pat Kent, Donna and Stan Purtee, Ned and Vicky Mattox, Judy Mattox and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Huda and Ted Carper, mother and father in law James and Gladys Mattox.

Jim was strong, compassionate and caring man that fought four different cancers and never once lost his sense of humor or concern for others. During this he often stated that all he wanted was to sit on his deck, drink coffee and talk to his old dog (Sidney). He was very proud of his service in the Air Force and lifelong group of friends.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130. Friends and family may visit 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Pickering House for his care during the final days.
