James Chatfield

James L. Chatfield 91 of Lancaster, Ohio went to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home. He was born on January 10, 1922 in McCarthur, Ohio.
He was a World War II US Army veteran with the 574th Motor Ambulance Company and awarded the Bronze Star.
Jim loved his family and friends and enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes, golf and fishing. He loved his church the First United Methodist Church, sang in the church choir for several years, and served on several committees along with serving Community Meals at the church. He was a retired printer from the Lancaster Eagle Gazette Newspaper with over 25 years of service; after retiring he was on the First United Methodist Church staff with a job title of security. He was a member of the American Legion Post 11, Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club, all Masonic bodies, Olivedale Senior Citizens Bowling League and went on the Honor Trip to Washington, DC.
James is survived by his daughter, Emmy (Ron) Dillon of Lancaster, Ohio; son, J. Larry (Carrie) Chatfield of Tonapah, Arizona; four grandchildren, Lucas (Rachael) Chatfield, Melissa (Justin) Fassler, Robert Allen (Christina) Dillon, and Christopher (Evelina) Dillon; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Fassler, James Chatfield, Joseph Dillon and Joshua Dillon; sister, Helen (Jack) Stevens of Florida; brothers, George (Nancy) Chatfield of Florida and Gene (Nancy) Chatfield of Eaton, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Mary Chatfield of 64 years, parents, John and Mary Alice Chatfield, brothers, Robert, Donnie, Paul, Charles, and Richard Chatfield.
Jim was loved and cherished by everyone who knew him. The family would like to express a special thank you to all of his caregivers at Crestview Nursing Home and to FairHoPe Hospice.
A Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverends Robert McDowell and Cheryl Foulk officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
