Jacquelyn Ann Darfus Wharton, 83, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014 at Main Street Terrace Care Center. She was born July 5, 1930 in Lancaster. She was an LHS 1948 graduate and was employed for many years by the Essex Wire Corporation. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Circle UMW, The Welcome Society of Pennsylvania, Fairfield Heritage Association and was a volunteer at the Sherman House Museum for twenty five years.
She loved her family dearly and leaves to mourn her, a son, Craig (Sally) Wharton; son-in-law, Jeff Hubbard; grandchildren, Thea (Dan) Ramey, Claire Hubbard, Sydney Hubbard, Hayley Wharton, Carley Wharton; great-grandchildren, Ashton and Shawn Pickett, Jacquelyn Ramey, and Isabella OBrien; sisters, Kathleen Wilson, Phyllis (Tom) Kuhn, Joan Wedge, sisters-in-law, Betty and Dorothy Wharton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Darfus and Clara Darfus Cassley; husband Lloyd Ted Wharton, and daughter, Sherry Hubbard.
A funeral will take place at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME on Monday at 10:30AM, officiated by Rev. Cheryl Foulk. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1PM until 4PM.
