Jacqueline Ann (Avey) Searle 72 of Millersport, Ohio, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Violet Springs Health Campus in Pickerington Ohio.
Jaci was born, raised and married in Rockford Illinois. She moved with her family to Hudson Ohio in 1985. She then moved with husband John to Millersport Ohio in 1999. She earned her BA with a major in Spanish from Rockford College in 1973 and her MA with a major in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Illinois in 1978. She was a member of TESOL (Teachers of English as a Second Language).
In addition to raising her two sons, Jaci taught English as a Second Language for 30 years to middle school, high school and adult students and was recognized as a positive influence to her many students. She retired in 2014 from Thomas Worthington High School in Columbus, Ohio. She enjoyed traveling and experiencing other cultures and people including most of the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. She also enjoyed gardening and was a voracious reader. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Jaci is survived by her husband of 50 years John, sons, Tyler Searle and Adam (Sheri Anderson-Searle) Searle; grandson, Matthew Searle; sisters, Connie Avey and Sue (Joe) Calcione; brother-in-law, Jim Searle; niece, Andrea (Calcione) Woldman, nephew, Nick (Kelli) Calcione; grand nephews, Grant and Myles Woldman, Blake and Gavin Calcione.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ardith (Martin) Avey, grand niece, Hope Calcione and Mike Woldman husband of Andrea Woldman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 with Rev. Linda Ward officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
