Jack L. Whitmore, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on August 22, 2018 at Carriage Court. He was born on April 26, 1931 to the late Gilbert and Cleo Whitmore in Columbus, Ohio.
Jack served in the Unites States Army from January of 1952 through December of 1953 in the 63rd AAA Gun Battalion. He was also a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene and later of the Faith Memorial Church, and worked at the Ohio Public Expenditures Council for over 40 years.
He is survived by his son, Phillip (Amy) Whitmore of Circleville, Ohio; daughters, Deborah (George) Bakewell of Mount Vernon, Ohio and Victoria (Mike) Wilkins of Tampa, Florida; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty L. Whitmore; and his parents.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO, 43130 with Pastor Mel Truex officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. Family and friends may visit on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 5-7 P.M. and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
