She didn’t have a fancy education.
She wasn’t born to privilege or high place.
Her friends were ordinary people;
No jewels framed her pretty, freckled face.
She raised three kids with prayer and patience.
At church she taught the very young.
Her heart was tender and surrendered.
The Father spoke to those she moved among.
The door she opened wide to friends and strangers.
She seized each opportunity
To speak the words of Heaven’s wisdom
In truth, in love, and in humility.
We came understand the word “surrendered,”
Every one of us who spent some time,
In Reverend, Grandma Glunt’s sweet presence,
Where bits of Heaven didn’t cost a dime.
David Glunt
