Howard W. Koontz, 73, of Hemlock, OH, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the Fairfield Medical Center. He was born in Westerville, OH to the late David L. Koontz and Helen (Hoff) Koontz on January 28, 1948.
On November 16, 1968, Howard enlisted in the USNR-Navy Seabees. He was stationed at bases throughout the U.S. as well as Vietnam. He retired from Elevator Constructor after 40 years of service. Because of his skills, Howard earned the nickname of “Spider”. He also worked for the Perry County Transit as a driver transport. He loved going to church, and enjoyed church activities.
Howard is survived by his wife of 24 years, Barbara Koontz; step-son, Michael (Sarah) Johnson; three grandchildren; twin brother, Harold (June) Koontz; older sister, Virginia Sharp; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Caring Cremation has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY. A memorial service officiated by Eugene Yutzy will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Christ Church of Fairfield, 1440 Ridge Road NE, Lancaster, OH, 43130 at 11 AM.
