Helen S. Haffey, 90, of Carroll, Ohio passed away peacefully at the Pickering House on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Helen was a member of David’s United Church of Christ in Canal Winchester. She and her husband, Gene, built, owned, and operated the Dairy Queen of Canal Winchester for 23 years. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years. She was also a member of Olivedale Senior Citizens of Fairfield County and enjoyed square dancing and camping with Square Wheels, Family Ties, and Country Campers Clubs.
Helen is survived by her children, Edward Haffey, David (Barbara) Haffey, and Debra Gaunder; grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Haffey and Melanie (Ryan) Wildermuth; great grandchildren, Allyson Haffey, Ella Haffey, and Hudson Wildermuth; siblings, Margaret (Richard) Shumaker, Ruth Boyer, Frank (Terry) Seifert, and Dick Seifert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Eugene “Gene” Haffey; parents, Pearl F. and Mable Seifert; and brother, Pearl A. Seifert.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at David’s United Church of Christ, 80 West Columbus St, Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110 with Reverend David Long-Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Township Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may visit from 5 to 8 PM Monday at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
