Heather Wiley

Heather Wiley, 47, of Carroll, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family on Monday morning, January 24, 2022, at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Heather was born September 5, 1974, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Perry and Phyllis (Gathergood) Payne. She graduated from Bloom-Carroll High School in 1993 and from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in 1997. Heather married Jason Wiley July 13, 1996. Their daughter Kathryn was born August 5, 2003.

Heather worked 24 years for Park National Bank and was currently an HRIS Manager, Asst. VP. She was a SHRM Certified Professional, and held several leadership positions at the local and state levels within that organization. She was also a member of Shalom United Methodist Church in Carroll.

Relationships with people were very important to Heather. She enjoyed playing games with family and friends, reading, writing, spending time talking and getting to know people.  She had a special way of connecting with people and was kind to everyone she met from bank officers to doctors to custodians. If you spent time with Heather, she made you a better person. Heather once wrote that her purpose in life was to spread joy and she encouraged others to do the same.

Heather is survived by her loving, supportive husband of 25 years, Jason; her daughter Kathryn; her parents Perry and Phyllis Payne; step-grandfather Gerald Kehres; her sisters Charlotte (Steve) Davis and Monica Wolfkill; in-laws Jeff and Becky (Murphy) Wiley, Chris and Tu Ta-Wiley, Ben and Erica (Steele) Wiley, and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Family and friends are invited to viewing hours Friday, January 28, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. A short service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10:30 am at Shalom United Methodist Church, 4925 Plum Road NW, Carroll, Ohio 43112 with Rev. Peter Borhauer officiating.
