Harry “Ed” Ortman 85 of Rushville, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at LanFair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Thurston, Ohio to the late Marvin and Thelma Ortman.
He retired from Crown Zellerbach as a mechanic with 47 years of service. Ed was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Thornville, Ohio. He enjoyed working mind puzzles and word finds puzzles. When he wasn’t working on puzzles he enjoyed golfing. Ed was the caregiver of his wife Lucille Ortman during her long illness prior her passing.
Ed always found some time to get together with his fellow retirees from the paper mill.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Krystal) Ortman of Thornville and Julie (Ralph) Bay of Junction City; grandchildren, Josh (Dani) Bay, Joseph (Kaitlyn) Ortman, Chris Ortman and Rachel Ortman; great-grandchild, Sophia; brother, Robert “Bob” Ortman of Thurston; sister, Shirley Joos of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Judy Ortman of Pickerington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Caroline Gadd and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Ortman, parents, brother, Ron Ortman and brother-in-law, Charles Joos.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Dick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
