Harry E. Landis

Harry E. Landis, 88 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. 

Harry was born on July 31, 1936, to Harry and Frances Landis in Baltimore, Ohio. He grew up in the Baltimore area and attended Liberty-Union Schools. He met the love of his life, JoAnn, at the Fairfield County Fair and they were married on July 30, 1955. Harry was a retired fire fighter and fire inspector with the Lancaster Fire Department and then worked for many years at the Lancaster Police Department.

Harry is survived by daughter, Shery (K. C.) Kern, son, Lynn (Linda) Landis and daughter, Trisha Dwyer; grandchildren, Brandon (Amie) Kern, Nick (Meagan) Landis, Nathaniel (Lauren) Landis, Zach Kern, Austin (Ana) Kern, Noah (Natalie) Landis, Patrick (Elizabeth) Dwyer, and Natalyn (Adrian) Wymer; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Harry is also survived by his brother, Terry (Connie) Landis and sister, Virginia Landis and brother-in-law, Jerry Dupler, and many nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, parents, Harry and Frances, son-in-law, Paul E. Dwyer and siblings; Jim, Frederick, and Polly, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

One of Harry’s favorite pastimes was supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. Harry could be found most mornings enjoying coffee at McDonald’s, walking in the fairgrounds, and enjoying an active lifestyle.

Calling hours will be held at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home in Lancaster on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM officiated by Pastor Richard Boucher.
