HAROLD F. COLOPY age 84 of Lancaster died Monday August 8, 2011 at The Pickering House. He was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and retired from Yellow Freight Company after 34 years of service. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II and the U.S. Marine Corps during Korea; was a member and former Trustee of the American Legion Post 11; past Chef de Gare of the Voiture 40 et 8; member of VFW Post 1516 and AmVets Post 1985; Past Commandant of the Marine Corps League and was the Commander of the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail. He is survived by daughter Anne (Michael) Triplett, Somerset; son Joseph Colopy, Lancaster; special friend Jean Strickland, Lancaster; three grandchildren Leroy McClellan, Sara (David) Williey, and Joshua (Heather) Colopy; 8 great-grandchildren Anthony Devereaux, Madison Devereaux, Taylor Colopy, Carter Colopy, Jaxon McClellan, Trey Smith, Aliva Smith, and Renee Smith. He was preceeded in death by his wife Josephine L. Colopy, daughter-in-law Carla Colopy, twin daughters, brother William T. Colopy, and sisters Pauline Colopy and Rosella Carroll. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:30am at Saint Mary Catholic Church with Father Donald Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Marys Cemetery where the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST, LANCASTER, OHIO 43130. A vigil service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. with Deacon Frank Sullivan at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Pickering House 282 Sells Rd, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in Harolds memory.
