Gilbert Gene Ayers

Gilbert Gene Ayers, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

Gilbert retired after 25 years with Anchor Hocking Glass. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens and his flower gardens.

Gilbert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Jennifer Ayers; brother, John (Alice) Ayers; step sons, Boyd (Kay) Dennis and Rob (Charlotte) Dennis; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Garnet M. Ayers; and his parents, Lincoln and Mae Ayers.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Reverend Cheryl Foulk officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 471 E. Broad St, Suite 1630, Columbus, Ohio 43130.
