Gerald Kistler Jr, age 99, of Lancaster passed away peacefully at his residence on April 1st, 2021. He retired from Anchor Hocking after 42 years. On June 6th, 1944 Gerald valiantly stormed Omaha Beach and would go on to serve in all 5 campaigns during World War II; being awarded the prestigious Silver Star. Gerald will be dearly missed by friends, family and a grateful nation.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Connie (Fred) Loy; grandchildren, Aimee (Chad) Smith and AJ (Christine) Loy; great grandchildren, Brooke Smith, Brody Smith and Hayden Loy.
Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kistler; mother Mertie Hoffman and special “father”, Loring VanFossen;
A special thank you to his neighbors who were always there to lend a helping hand and to the cookie and pie bakers, who kept his sweet tooth satisfied.
Calling hours will be held at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home from 10AM -12PM on Monday, April 5. A graveside service will take place at 2PM Monday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Stoutsville, 9198 Cemetery Rd, Stoutsville OH 43154. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent to the Salvation Army, 228 Hubert Avenue P.O.
