Gerald Keeney, 92, of Newark, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015.
Gerald was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Normandy; Northern France, Ardennes, and Rhineland. He was a member of the American Legion Post Post #11 in Lancaster. Gerald was a home builder and built many homes in and around Fairfield County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He also loved boating on the Ohio River and spending time in the woods.
Gerald is survived by his great niece, Kyra (Dwayne) Yeager; great nephews, Mark (Kathy) Dillehay and Michael (Penny) Dillehay; great great nieces and nephews, Tiffany Yeager, Garrett Yeager, Kaley Yeager, Kelsey (Nathan) McKillip, Caitlin (Kyle) McCallum, and Lucas Dillehay; and his best buddy, Joe Barrett.
Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, M. Jeanne Keeney; mother, Elizabeth Keeney; and nieces, Patricia Dillehay and Jean Ann Bowen.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Reverend Cheryl Foulk officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan.
Donations can be made in memory of Gerald to a charity of the donors choice.
