Gerald E. "Pete" Ety December 6, 1930 - October 27, 2018

Gerald E. “Pete” Ety, 87, of Baltimore, passed away on October 27, 2018. He was born in Fairfield County, Ohio on December 6, 1930 to the late Charles and Edith (Giesy) Ety.

Gerald was a graduate of Carroll High School, Class of 1948, a lifelong farmer, long time member of the Christ United Methodist Church, and a United States Army Veteran.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirlee Ety, daughters, Connie (Ray) Stoneburner, and Chris (Matt) Shreyer; three grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; brothers, Richard Ety and Ralph Ety; sister, Charma (Ron) Bussert; brothers and sisters-in laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore, OH, 43105, officiated by Pastor Alice Wolfe. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, and again one hour prior to the service Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Christ United Methodist Church, 700 S. Main St., Baltimore, OH 43105 or to Firefighter Santa, 410 W. Washington St., Baltimore, OH 43105.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at both Fairfield Medical Center and Lanfair for the excellent care Pete received over the last several months.
