Georgene "Gene" (Thompson) Kemerer

Georgene “Gene” Kemerer, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Fairfield Medical Center. She was born to the late Emmitt and Edna Thompson in McArthur, OH on December 20, 1937.

Gene enjoyed teaching Bible school, and incorporated her love of arts and crafts into her teaching. She also had a passion for baking.

Gene is survived by her daughters, Gail Kemerer, and Beth (Mike) Shumway; son, Jeff Kemerer; grandchildren, Tre River Kemerer, Michelle Walker, and Rosie Walker; siblings, JoAnn (Melvin) Carpenter, Art (Linda) Thompson, Bill Thompson, and Lib Enciso; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Kemerer Sr.; sibling, Mack Thompson, Frank Thompson, and Sue Staten; parents; and infant child.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Dave Tingler will take place at 1 PM on Friday, December 18, 2020 in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH, 43130. Burial will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and again from 6-8 PM on Thursday. In accordance with State mandates, COVID Protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.
