George Fred Walter, age 89, passed away at the Pickering House Tuesday, November 22, 2016. He was born on June 21, 1927 in Fairfield County, to the late George G. and Emma Wellman Walter. George retired from Ralston Purina as an electrician and farmed his entire life. He was a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of the Farm Bureau #33. George enjoyed square-dancing and loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years on November 25th, Helen Walter; children, Thomas F. (Robin A.) Walter; Linda Claypool; and Ken (Nyetta) Walter; grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) Claypool, KellI (Greg) Woodward, Candy Policaro, Nancy (Chad) Homan, and Jay (Sarah) Walter; nine great grandchildren; and brother, Martin Walter, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Walter; sister, Christine Singer; and son-in-law, Daniel Claypool.
A funeral service will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday at 10:30AM with calling one hour prior at the church, officiated by Rev. Mark Raddatz. Due to the holiday, burial will take place on Monday at 10:30AM at Maple Grove Cemetery with a committal service by Rev. Dr. John Davidson. Family and friends may call at the FRANK E.
