George W. Waits, Sr., 81 of Baltimore, Ohio passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his residence. He was a Korean Conflict veteran serving in the US Marine Corps. and retired from Mattox Brothers with 30 years of service as a truck driver. He also worked for Wellnitz Co. in Columbus, Ohio where he retired from.
He was a member of the Baltimore United Methodist Church, Baltimore Senior Citizens, Baltimore VFW Post 3761, life member of the Millersport American Legion and the chair volleyball team.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn; sons, George W. Waits, Jr. of Baltimore, Ohio and Gregory Alan Waits of Texas; daughters, Gwen (Bill) Worley of Junction City, Ohio and Gina (Glen) Krasner of Baltimore, Ohio; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; aunt, Lola Mattox of Lancaster, Ohio and brother-in-law, John R. Tolliver and family of Newark, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Emelia Waits, Sr., brothers, John F. Waits, Jr., Weldon Bennett Waits and Marvin Waits, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Lu Waits.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 with Rev. Branson Hawkes officiating. Burial will follow in Violet Cemetery, Pickerington, Ohio with the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
