George Robert Denius 83 of Carroll, Ohio died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Emeritus of Lakeview. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 27, 1930 to the late H. Glenn and Blanche Denius.
He was a retired auditor for Defense Contract Audit Agency with over 30 years of service and later worked at Battelle in the inventory control department.
He was a Korean conflict veteran serving in the US Air Force, a member of the Shalom United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Boy Scout leader of Troop 588, and Buckeye Packard’s Club.
George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen M. Knutson Denius; daughter, Pamela (Van) Gillam of Carroll, OH; son, Jeffrey Denius of Savannah, GA; two grandchildren, Jessica Marie and Alexandra Nicole; niece, Karen and nephew, Rick. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Elizabeth Coe, brother-in-law, Richard Coe and nephew, Greg Coe.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 3, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OH 43130 with Rev. Barbara Wood Saylers officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place. Burial will be held in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, OH at a later date. Friends may visit Monday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
