Geoffrey A. Custer, 75, loving husband of 52 years passed away May 23rd with his family by his side. He was born January 7th, 1940 and has been a life-long resident of Lancaster, Ohio. Upon graduation from Lancaster High Scool in 1958, he was strongly encouraged by his father to enter the Marine Corps following a juvenile prank that took place atop Mt. Pleasant. After 4 years in the Marines, he attended Otterbein University and graduated in 1965. Geoff travelled the world for the international sales division of Anchor Hocking. His long history of sales and marketing skills also included 10+ years at Superior Glass Fibers. He enjoyed being involved in Rotary and Symposiarchs, and was most passionate about his time spent volunteering at Fairfield Medical Center and participating on the Fairfield Medical Center Foundation board of directors.
Geoff loved his family and raised his kids with his one solid rule of "do as Dad says, not as Dad does"! Believe it or not, it actually worked! His passions included his Harleys, collecting firearms, his dogs Molly and Ella and spending time with friends. He was a Bloody Mary connoisseur and on a life long journey in search of the "perfect vodka tonic"! From his days of drag racing down Lake Street in the late 50's trying to impress his bride-to-be, to his trips around the country on his Harley Davidson, he was always living his life to the fullest. You may have seen him in the early morning hours making his usual rounds at Jolly Pirate Donuts, North Body Shop or Dave Hestons Auto Service. He was the one hanging out telling his latest dirty joke to anyone who would listen. He truly loved his friends, most of whom he considered his family.
Geoff is survived by his loving wife Judy (Blaine), 3 children Ann Custer of Columbus, OH, Michael (Jaci) Custer of Columbus, OH, and Nancy (Michael) Valudes of Lititz, PA, grandchildren Elizabeth, Nick, and Michael Valudes (by whom he was known as PopPop), mother Elizabeth Custer of Bexley, OH, brothers Henry Custer of San Diego, CA, and William (Lori) Custer of Granville, OH, and sister-in-law Nancy Blaine of Leesburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Martha Custer, his brother Christopher, and many dear friends.
