Gerald “Gary” L. Thornton, 69, of Bremen, passed away on September, 13, 2018. He was born on February 13, 1949 to Eldon Thornton and the late Betty Thornton-Clark.
In his youth, Gary was very athletic. He played football, basketball, and was even on the track team. He loved the Buckeyes, Browns, and the Reds. He was a huge fan of Westerns, and was a very hard worker. He found peace in the outdoors, sitting on his porch and enjoying nature.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda C. Thornton; children, Lucas R. Thornton, Elizabeth C. Thornton, Katherine E. Thornton, and Ross Thornton; father, Eldon Thornton; brothers, Lee Thornton, and Tom (Betty) Thornton; sister, Melody Roe; grandchildren, Chloe Romine, Ethan Wolfe, Keller Thornton, and Emma Wolf; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Thornton-Clark; and stepfather, Benjamin Clark.
Calling hours will be held from 4-6 P.M. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH, 43130. Following the viewing, a memorial reception will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church 29439 Hide a Way Hills Rd., Logan, Ohio 43138
