On June 2, 2021, Gary D. Darfus left our loving arms and went to the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Gary was born to the late Raymond and Ruth (Lane) Darfus on October 11th, 1945. He was a 1964 LHS graduate. He enjoyed playing sports for Lancaster High and was a member of the track, football and basketball teams. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Local 2020 Union and worked for Western Electric for over 37 years. Gary will be remembered for his faith in Jesus and love of his family and friends. His pride and joy was his grandson Luke, whom he loved with all his heart and soul. He will be missed for his loving, caring heart and his beautiful smile. He will be dearly missed by many who look forward to seeing him again in Paradise.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dianna Beth (Kindler) Darfus; children, Tad (Lottie) Darfus, Jody (Len) Sheets; grandson, Luke Sheets, his fiance Tori Tatman and her daughter Mia; brothers and sisters in law, Ted (Jackie) Kindler, Jane (Del) Bontrager, and Kay Kastor; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Patt (Katherine) Kindler.
A special thank you to the Pickering House nurses for their love and care of Gary and our family. Also, Drs. Sielski, Johnson, Singh, Singer, and F.M.C. Oncology nurses.
A funeral service will take place at 1PM on Tuesday at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Calvin Green. Burial will follow the service at Forest Rose Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at the funeral home. Memorials in his name can be made to Fairhope Hospice 282 Sells Rd. Lancaster, OH 43130.
