Garnet Nelson

Garnet Charlesa (Norris) Nelson of Lancaster, Ohio, age 94, beloved wife of 61 years to the late John E. Nelson entered into her heavenly home on September 11, 2018. She was born February 6, 1924 in Ross County, Ohio to the late William Norris and Grace (Ott) Norris. In 1943, she graduated from Walnut Township School, in Pickaway County. After graduation, Garnet lived at Lutheran Hospice in Columbus, Ohio where she made many lifelong friends. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and Sugar Grace Homemakers. She worked for Nationwide Insurance Company and Anchor Hocking Glass Company. Garnet was an avid bridge player, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, bowling, golfing, traveling and spending time with her family.

Garnet is survived by her children Douglas (Christine) Nelson, Jennifer (Robert) Miller, and David Nelson; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers Joe (Marilyn) Norris, Robert (Judy) Norris, and Dwight (Shirley) Norris; many nieces and nephews.

Garnet is preceded in death by her husband, parents, Brothers Carl Norris and Paul Norris, and sister Lucile Norris.

Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday September 15, 2018 at St. John’s Episcopal Church Lancaster Ohio. Burial will follow the service at Forest Rose Cemetery. Family and friends may visit Friday September 14, 2018 from 2 PM until 4 PM and 6 PM until 8 PM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Lancaster, Ohio.
