Fred “Freddie” R. Thompson, 60, of Rockbridge, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
He worked for many years and was well loved at Value City Distribution (American Signature Co). Fred was gentle and kind with a touch of ornery, which you could see in his special smile. He lived life to the fullest and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a talented artist and had great culinary skills. He also loved riding his Harley.
Fred will be deeply missed by his wife, Debbie, the loves of each other’s life. He also dearly loved his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Fred is survived by the love of his life, Debbie Thompson; daughters, Sarah Harlan and Tiffany (Luke) Adkins; grandchildren, Emma, Jason, Marissa, and Wyatt; siblings, Carol (Dave) Hickman, Lisa (Yolande) Thompson, Teresa (Bill) Marcum, Frank (Jackie) Thompson, Jr., Bryan (Belinda) Thompson, Ruth (Chuck) Weiner, and Bruce (Tracie) Thompson; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Siena) Pies, Mitchell (Gloria) Pies, and Harvey (Mary Jean) Pies; and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his mother and father, Janivee and Franklin Thompson, Sr.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor John Williams and Rabbi Howard L. Apothaker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge. Family and friends are invited to a meal following the graveside service at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
