Fred K. Brackbill, age 86 of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at Heartland-Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pleasantville, Ohio.
He served 22 years in the USAF, as a navigator, finishing his career as a Major. He taught Industrial Arts at Heath Middle School, for several years until he retired.
He lived with his family in Pickerington for 43 years. He was active in the Pickerington Lions Club, and the local Historical Society.
During his Air Force career, the family lived throughout the United States including Alaska and Japan. He enjoyed just going for a ride on the country roads of Central Ohio, stopping at auctions and yard sales looking for tools.
Fred is survived by Nancy, his wife for 63 years; sister, Nancy Minnich. He has four sons, Sam, Jack, Jim and David; six grandchildren, Alex, Coby, Noah, Jose, Mazie and Sally; several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a grateful thanks to the Heartland-Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to Hospice for their excellent care of Fred.
A private memorial service is planned for the family at Primrose Retirement Community. Caring Cremation has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, LANCASTER, OHIO.
