Franklin C. McKinney 75 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at his residence.
He was a retired printer from the Columbus Dispatch with over 35 years of service. He was a member of the C.W.A. Printers Union, Tracktown Shirts and Skirts Square Dance Club, a handyman, loved bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Geraldine “ Jerri” McKinney; son, Gerald L. (Debbie) McKinney of Lithopolis, Ohio; daughters, Janette S. (Sandy) Hall of Sunbury, Ohio, Christy M. (Ted) Davis of Grove City, Ohio and Carol (fiancé Greg Brunney) McKinney of Lancaster, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brother, Ron (Sharon) McKinney of Jacksontown, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and many friends. A special thank you to Chaplain Karl Hartmann and all the staff at FairHoPe Hospice for their wonderful care.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary McKinney, grandson, Joshua McKinney, parents, Ancel and Helen McKinney, special mother and father, Blanche and Nolan VanFossen, sister, Sandra Jean McKinney.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Chaplain Karl Hartmann officiating. Caring Cremation has taken place. Burial to take place at New Lexington Cemetery at a later date. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
