Floyd "Johnny" Kohn Jr

February 3, 1943 — May 22, 2016

Floyd Everett Kohn Jr. A.K.A. Johnny, passed early Sunday, May 22nd, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East in the ICU, due to heart failure. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 yrs, Melinda E. “Mindy” Kohn (Turner); his beloved children Leila E. Kohn and daughter-in-law, Stacey L. Simpson, LaAnn E. Kohn and boyfriend Ramses M. Evangelista; granddaughter, Gilianna Y. Morello; two sisters, Pat Wilson and Sue Holdren; brother-in-law, Don Welshimer; and all his extended family.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Richards; step-father, Doug Richards; father, Floyd “Dick” Kohn Sr.; sister, Vivian Welshimir.

Johnny was born Feb. 3rd, 1943 in Chillicothe. He traveled a lot as a child and then joined the Navy and served three tours in Vietnam. He received a purple heart and was honorably discharged. He then moved to Baltimore, OH and started his adult life. He worked for the Gaylord paper mill for 21 years. He then met his wife at Grapevine pizza where they danced the night away. Together they moved to Reynoldsburg and started a family. Johnny started working at D.M.I. after his oldest was born. He worked there for 19 years. When his youngest was a teenager he retired, but he then got bored, so he started part-time at Eastland Mall running a floor scrubber. He did such a wonderful job they named the scrubber after him. He touched so many lives and considered many as extended family. His love for cats and camping was incredible but his love for his family was even greater. He was a gentle soul and knew no strangers, kind, giving, and so very loving. He will be missed by so many. May he dance in Heaven.
