Esther Tucker

Esther Louise Tucker, 86, lifelong resident of Baltimore, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Main Street Terrace Nursing Center in Lancaster. Louise was born November 30, 1927 to Stewart and Esther Mae Howard. She was a retired food service supervisor for the Liberty Union-Thurston Local School District, member of the Order of Eastern Stars, and member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Baltimore. Like many women of her generation, Louise was a strong “behind-the-scenes” worker on behalf of her family and the Baltimore community.
She is survived by her son, Tim (Susan) Tucker of Lancaster, and daughter Tana (Richard) Kagey of Baltimore; grandchildren, Erin Catron, Chris (Alison) Vincent, Lori (Dwayne) Mohler, Julie (John) Walter, Carrie (Gene) McCandlish, Jeff (Tracie) Kagey, Jason (Tera) Kagey; 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sisters-in-law, Elsie Friesner, Betty Jeffers, Kathryn Hickman, and June Holland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Bill W. Tucker; daughter, Treva Canfield, father and mother-in-law, Wilburn and Elsie Tucker.
A memorial service will be held at JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, in Baltimore on Wednesday, August 27th at 11AM, officiated by The Reverend Jill Dunlap. Caring Cremation® has taken place. Interment of the cremains will follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 9:00AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
