Esther Ann Woltz Dern of Millersport, formerly of Columbus and Baltimore; age 88, was peacefully called home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. The daughter of the late Andrew F. and Minnie Hedges Woltz. Graduated from Jerome Rural High School in 1942 and attended Capital University in Bexley. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church of Pickerington. Esther was a member of Zonta International until her retirement. Esther retired as the Executive Vice President of the Columbus Automobile Dealers Association and served on the National Auto Dealers Association Board. Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Reading, writing and crocheting were her passions. She especially enjoyed her retired years living at Buckeye Lake and working in her rose garden.
She is survived by her son, Bruce R. (Lynne) Dern, Grandchildren Cindy (Phillip) Eastep, Robert (Rebeccah) Dern and three Great Grandchildren Owen, Audrey Eastep and Henry Dern all of Baltimore. Brother-in-law, Dr. William Dern, special nephew Keith Dern of Urbana and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: husband Robert H. Dern, brother Warren (Marie) Woltz and sister Eunice (Paul) Woltz Ramsey Smith.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 with Rev. Jackie Nehls officiating. Burial to follow in Basil Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
