Emma M. Spizzirri, 96, of Lancaster, passed away on December 2, 2024. She was born to the late Felice and Rosina (Giuliano) Police in North Braddock, PA on December 11, 1927.
Emma graduated from Alexander M. Scott High School in North Braddock, PA in 1946. In 1948 she married Eugene L. Spizzirri. While in North Braddock, Emma actively attended St. Mary of Mt. Carmel and volunteered at Braddock General Hospital. In 1993 Emma and Eugene moved to Lancaster, OH. It was here Emma continued in her Catholic faith and attended the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, and then St. Bernadette.
Emma loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She loved to crochet, donating many items to hospitals, churches, and families with newborn babies. She loved roses and planted a lovely rose garden along with many other flowers. She loved playing Canasta with her dear lady friends. She loved playing SCRABBLE with her daughters and whomever would play with her. She loved watching the Game Show Network programs, which she said kept her smart. Being from the Pittsburgh area, she loved the Steelers and watched many of their football games.
She is survived by her daughters, Roseanna (Jim Shortall) Spizzirri of New Hampshire, and Linda (Ed Showman) Spizzirri of Lancaster; nieces and nephews, Rosemarie Police and her children and grandchildren, Gerry Police and his children and grandchildren; Carole (Jim) Bateman, Anthony (Denise) Patrizio, Dina Egnatz, and Darla (Al) Bradbury; and close cousins, Franny (Kenny) Garrett, Elena Police Marra, and Mark, Lora, Dominic and Antonio Marra.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. Spizzirri; brother, Salvatore “Sammy” Police, Louise Police Patrizio, and Rose Police Egnatz; stepmother, Vincenzina Giuliano Police; and parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 AM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at St. Bernadette, 1343 Wheeling Road NE, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Burial will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 1 PM in All Saint’s Catholic Cemetery, 1560 Brinton Road Pittsburgh, PA 1522.
