Emily "Cricket" Smith

Emily “Cricket” Smith 74 of Shawnee, Ohio former resident of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Fairfield Medical Center.

She was a member of New Life Christian Center, volunteer for the Fairfield County District Library and foster care mother to several children.

Cricket is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gary F. Smith; children, Gary David (Teresa) Smith of Kingston, Ohio, Steven D. (Cindy) Smith, William M. (Misty) Smith and Shawn (Elizabeth) Smith all of Lancaster, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters, Daisy (Jim) Simcox of Lancaster, Ohio, Virgie Hughes of Ashton, WV and Nancy Steger of Chesapeake, Ohio; brothers, Dallas Thacker and Steve (Tina) Thacker of Ashton, Ohio; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Smith and Donna Jean (Harold) Bigham and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Harlan Thacker, sisters, Evelyn, Opal, Joyce and Linda, brothers, Kenneth, Charles and Bernard.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at New Life Christian Center at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mike Bethel officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
