Elizabeth "Tillie" Merton

Elizabeth “Tillie” Merton, age 96, of Lancaster died June 8th, 2014 at Lanfair Rehabilitation and Nursing. She was born in Birmingham, Al on October, 4th 1917 to her parents, Walter and Rhe Crowley Tillett. She graduated with a B.S. in Music from the University of Kentucky. Tillie went on to teach for 25 years in Lancaster and Florida. She helped implement kindergarten throughout the Lancaster Public Schools. She loved traveling and knitting. Tillie will be greatly missed.
Tillie is survived by her sons, William A. Merton III, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, James T. (Peggy) Merton of Lancaster, and John K. Merton of Umatilla, FL; grandchildren, Brad (Antoinette) Merton, Cindy (Andrew) White, and John Merton; great grandchildren, Caleb, Lauren, and Connor Merton and Zackery and Nicolas White.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Merton, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Merton, and her parents.
