Edward "Griz" Readman

Edward M. “Griz” Readman, 70, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 24, 1948 to Mary Readman, and the late Edward Readman. Griz was drafted into the Army at the age of 19 where he served his country in Vietnam from 1969 until 1972, when he was honorably discharged.

Griz loved all he met and never knew a stranger. He loved spending time with his family. Griz took pride as a volunteer at Fairfield Medical Center, his second home.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Readman; daughters, Jessica and Heather; grandson, Avery (whom he adored with all of his heart); mother, Mary Readman; brothers, David (Lisa) Readman, and Randy Readman; sister, Mary Sue (Greg) Reynolds; brothers-in-law, Dr. Bruce (Carol) Baker, Mark (Robin) Baker, and his best friend, hunting and fishing buddy, and partner in crime, Dr. Scott (Renee) Baker; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father; and mother-and-father-in-law, Bob and Bernie Baker.

A Memorial Service will take place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with visiting hours beginning one hour prior to the service with Deacon Diane Schwiger-Alexander officiating. Family and friends may visit at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OH, 43130 on Friday from 4-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Fairfield Medical Center Foundation to benefit cardiac rehab in his honor.
