Edra I. Miller, 85, departed this world peacefully on December 24, 2024, at The Ridge at Lancaster. Born on July 20, 1939, Edra lived a rich life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
In her professional journey, Edra made a significant mark as an Executive Assistant at Nationwide Insurance, where she supported four attorneys with remarkable skill and dedication. Unquestionably, her warmth and professionalism endeared her to colleagues, marking her as a well-loved employee who navigated her responsibilities with grace.
Edra's passions extended far beyond her career. With a spirited heart and an infectious laugh, she often reminisced about her youthful escapades in West Virginia, growing up during the era of bootlegging. The thrill of adventure echoed in her love for cars, most notably her cherished red firebird, a symbol of the freedom and joy that defined her early years. Her culinary artistry was equally celebrated; she had a knack for whipping up the most delicious fudge, delectable pies, and fluffy biscuits that delighted friends and family alike. Cooking was not just a skill for Edra; it was a way to express her love, bringing everyone together around the table.
In every aspect of her life, Edra exemplified kindness and compassion. She thrived on family gatherings and reveled in the company of her loved ones, always ready with a warm smile and an embracing hug. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen; she found joy in ceramics, knitting, and crocheting—crafting tangible expressions of her affection for those she held dear.
Edra's proudest accomplishments resided within her family. Her son, Christopher (Wendy) Buck, along with grandsons Josh D. (Kendra) Kemmerer, Jordan R. Kemmerer, and Jacob R. (Jena) Kemmerer, stood as testaments to her profound legacy. She delighted in the laughter and joy brought by her great-grandchildren: Bentley, Beckett, Bristol, Jorie, Josie, and Jovie Kemmerer. The tapestry of Edra's life was beautifully enriched by the love of her step-daughters, Kara Miller and Kristi (Bob) Triplett, and their step-grandchildren, Tyler and Tiffanie Weaver. Her bond with them reminded her of the bountiful connections she had woven throughout her life. Edra also held a special fondness for her son-in-law Randy Kemmerer and a clan of several nieces, nephews, and cousins whose lives she touched with her kindness.
Though Edra’s remarkable journey on this earth has come to a close, her spirit endures. She joins those who preceded her in death, her husband, David R. Miller, and her loving and cherished daughter, Yvonne Dianne Kemmerer.. Her parents, Edward Allan Rhodes and Edith (nee Warner) Rhodes, alongside her stepfather, Pete Stover, who married Edith after her father Edward's passing in a tragic mine accident, now welcome her into their hearts once more.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at The Ridge at Lancaster for all their attentive care for Edra. They all truly were a blessing.
