Edna Snider (Beougher) Bauman

Edna (Beougher) Snider Bauman, age 99 years old, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Lindley Inn in The Plains, Ohio where she resided for the past five years.

Edna was born in Hocking County near Rockbridge on August 7, 1916 to the late Jesse and Lela (Kline) Beougher. She graduated from Rockbridge High School in 1934. She married Raymond Snider in 1942 and after the end of World War II moved to Bremen, Ohio where they raised their family. Raymond preceded her in death in 1975 also, an infant son, Stephen Snider. After 10 years as a widow, she married D. C Bauman of Parkersburg, W. Va., and they moved to Lancaster, Ohio. Mr. Bauman passed on in 1993.

Surviving are her children Linda (Eric) Vore of Williamsburg, KY, Mark (Rita) Snider of Athens, OH, and Michael (Sandra) Snider of Westerville, OH. She leaves nine grandchildren: Betsy (Ken) Franjola, of Los Angeles CA., Stephanie (Brian) Haynes of Lake Wylie, SC, Melanie (Brian) Worth of Arlington, VA., Grace Kirkland of San Diego, CA, and Lela Kirkland of Seattle, WA. Laura Vore of Winchester, KY, Diane Vore, of Walhalla, SC Joseph (Sheila) Snider of Westerville, OH and Jesse Snider of San Francisco, CA

Edna leaves one brother Walter Beougher of Ft. Myers, FL. and two sisters, Mary Brown of Ft. Myers, FL, and Velma Fisk of Hondo TX. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

She attended Calvary United Methodist Church while living in Bremen where she was active for forty years in the United Methodist Women. There she held various offices, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. In 1985, while living in Lancaster, she joined The Mills Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of The Dear Ladies Group and on moving to The Plains became a member of The Richland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and canning the harvest. A favorite hobby of Edna’s was making quilts for the entire family which she enjoyed in her later years.

Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00 am at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Karen Crawford officiating. Burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery, Bremen. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.

Special thanks goes to the staff of the Lindley Inn for their kindness and care of Edna over the past five years and Linda Nelson who was a dear friend and care giver. Also thanks to Hospice for their care these past weeks.
