E. George Clark

November 11, 1924 — May 17, 2012

Emmitt George Clark of Lancaster, Ohio died peacefully on May 17, 2012 at The Inn at Fairfield Village.
He was 87 years young.
George was born on November 5, 1924 at OSU Medical Center to Emit (Whitey) and Vivian W. (Poole) Clark. The oldest of 6 children, George graduated from Lancaster High School with the Class of 1942 and started college at Ohio University. In 1943 George enlisted in the Army. In 1946 he finished his military tour at Camp Atterbury, Indiana where he met the love of his life Dorothy Miller. They married 6 months later. George returned to Ohio University and completed his degree in accounting, after which he spent many years doing electrical contract bids and estimates at The W.G.Fairfield Co., Miller Cable/Pipeline, and Wittaker Merryl. Upon his retirement he began volunteer tutoring of children in math at East Elementary School (and loved every minute). George and Dottie had 60 years together before she preceded him in death in 2006.
George was always active. He golfed when it was warm enough, and bowling when it wasn’t. He will be remembered by everyone for his forever youthful personality. Even in death he is still giving. Both George and Dottie have donated their bodies to the Ohio State University, College of Medicine.
George was preceded in death by his parents Whitey and Vivian, wife Dottie, brother Dick, sisters Margie Payette, Joyce Waugh , and Jean Brown.
He is survived by his remaining sister Carol Philbin of Perrysburg Oh., children Eugene George Clark of Kissimmee, Fl., Debbie K. Reid (Scott) of Medina, Oh., Cathy J. (Jeff) Gerken of Lancaster, Oh., and Tami S. (Dave) Harvey of Newark, Oh., 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lancaster on June 23, 2012 at 3 p.m.
The family suggests donations to Fair-Hope Hospice, 282 Sells Rd. Lancaster, OH 43130 in lieu of flowers.
