Dorothy “Dotty” Jassogne

February 21, 1929 — November 28, 2024

Lancaster

Dorothy “Dotty” Jassogne, 95, of Lancaster, beloved wife of Paul, passed away on November 28, 2024, at the Pickering House. She was born to the late Doid and Reah Kane in Fort Wayne, IN, on February 21, 1929.

Dotty graduated from Lancaster High School in the fabulous Class of 1947. Dotty was a Class officer (Secretary-Treasurer) and a member of the National Honor Society. In her Senior year, Dotty was also Senior Attendant to the Homecoming Queen and in the LHS band.

Dotty was a near lifelong member (70 plus years) of Sixth Avenue Methodist Church. She served the church in many capacities such as Secretary of the Administrative Council, Treasurer on the Scholarship Committee, and as a member of The United Methodist Women. She also sang Alto in the Chancel Choir. Dotty was a lifelong Christian because she was raised by Christian parents. She would often profess her faith to all who would listen. In the family, Dotty always encouraged her children and grandchildren how important it was to attend Sunday School and church. Above all else Dotty loved the Lord, being a Christian, her family, and her church.

Dotty had two big jobs in her life. She was the Catalog Manager at Sears (where she met Paul) and a bookkeeper in the Clerk Treasurer's office for the Lancaster City Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Jassogne; children, Steven K. (Dana) Shouldis, Victoria Oatney, Christopher L. (Kimberly) Shouldis, Mark P. (Donna) Shouldis, and Rodney S. (Kendra) Shouldis; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren with another on the way; daughter-in-law, Lindy Shouldis; and several nieces and nephews. Dotty also had two special girls in her life that she loved as if they were her daughters. Jingur Nichols and Kathy Vannoy.

She was preceded in death by her son; Robin Shouldis; daughter, Mollie Jo Jassogne; grandson, Andrew J. Shouldis; brothers, Reginald Kane and Richard Kane; sister, Georgia Weishaupt; lifelong friend, Nancy Keeley; and parents.

A memorial service officiated by Rev. Dr. 'Debo Onabanjo will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11 AM at the Sixth Avenue Global Methodist Church, 1004 W 6th Ave, Lancaster, OH 43130.
