Dorothea Jean Ochs
Dorothea Jean Ochs 75 of Lancaster, Ohio peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, December 6, 2013.
Dorothea was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 6, 1938 to the late Carl and Juliana Keller. She graduated from Lancaster High School and from Concordia Lutheran Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois. She continued her post graduate education at Capital University, Columbus, Ohio and Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She earned her Masters Degree in Education/Administration.
Dorothea taught school in Evansville, Indiana; at Redeemer Lutheran School in Lancaster, Ohio and in the Lancaster City School District. She retired from the Lancaster City School District as the testing supervisor.
She was a member of the Kiwanis Club, First Presbyterian Church and various educational organizations. She was a passionate animal lover.
Dorothea is survived by her daughter, Janis King; son, David (Janet) Ochs; five grandchildren, Steve King, John King, Caitlin King, Rachael (Claude) Smith and Daniel K. Ochs; brother, Harold C. Keller all of Lancaster, Ohio and former husband, Daniel Ochs. She is also survived by many close friends, relatives and her family of animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Hilda Marie Fahrer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 222 N. Broad St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Rev. Matthew Richardson officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
In Lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Forgotten 4-Paws, PO Box 1046, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in her memory.
