Donna Henderson

Donna M. “Mrs. Cupcakette” Mohler Henderson, 80, of Lancaster passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Fairfield Medical Center.

Donna was a 1954 graduate of New Straitsville High School. Donna was always a generous and caring person. She enjoyed crocheting and would often donate or give what she had made to someone in need. She loved writing and sharing recipes with others. In 1967, Donna became the first living kidney donor in the state of Ohio.

Donna is survived by her husband, Eugene “Cupcake” Henderson, they were married December 31, 1983, and spent over 33 wonderful years together. She is also survived by her children, Rhonda (James) Thrush Somnitz of Independence, Ohio and William (Jacqueline) Thrush of Rockbridge, Ohio; grandchildren, Mackenzie Thrush, Rebecca (Scott) Somnitz Peters, and Kathleen (Abhi) Vijaywergiya; siblings, Judy Mohler Wolfe and James (Chris) Mohler; 8 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol (Gary) Henderson; niece, Natalie (Bob) Neff; great nephew and niece, Jacob and Makayla Neff; special friends, Carol and Steve Rodabaugh, Rose and George Winters, Shirley and Carmel Marsh, and many other special friends; and her dog, Ginger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Orland Mohler; mother and farther-in-law, Wavelene and Arthur Henderson; and her dog, Babe.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Pastor Jerry Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
